A tragedy that opened all our eyes

A good friends son decided to take his life early Monday morning. It is devestating to everyone who knew Jake. No one understands it and I dont think there will be any sort of understanding or comfort any time soon for his family. All we can do now is to help and pray for the family to find the peace and to go through the process of healing they need to go through. Also on Oprah yesterday the show was about teen suicide, go to her homepage and listen to these mothers devestating stories. I just hope we can all learn something from this horrible event and be able to help others before its too late




Jacob A. B. Mortensen
Jacob Anthony Barzee Mortensen, 13, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at his home in Idaho Falls. Arrangements are pending at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
He was born on October 30, 1995, in Idaho Falls, the son of Christopher and Brook Robin Barzee Mortensen. He attended Edgemont, Linden Park and West Jefferson Elementary schools and was currently attending the seventh grade at Taylorview Jr. High School. Jacob enjoyed hunting, camping, skateboarding, riding his dirt bike, reading and playing his video games. He was very respectful of others and was the most friendly and polite person we have known. He was loved and will surely be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his parents, Christopher G. and Brooke R. Barzee Mortensen; a brother, Morgan G. Mortensen; a sister, Jocelyn R. Mortensen; his paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Penny Mortensen; his maternal grandparents, Bryant and Christy Barzee; maternal grandparents, Rebecca Bluhm and Robert Bluhm; uncles, Jarrid Barzee and Degan Piatak; and aunt, Jody Pemberton, all of Idaho Falls; an uncle and aunt, Todd and Katrina Mortensen of Wood Cross, Utah; and aunt and uncle, Gregory and Brandy Rockstroh of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by an aunt, Bridget Barzee and his great grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Shamrock Park LDS Ward Chapel, at the corner of Sunnyside and Holmes, with Bishop Howard K. Harper, officiating. Burial will follow in Ammon Cemetery in Ammon. A viewing for family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls, and for one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the church. The family suggest donations be given to the Jacob Anthony Barzee Mortensen Donation Fund and may be left at any Zion's Bank location. Promise to keep updated

I am going to try and keep this updated more often, life was pretty crazy this winter with me being sick and all that was going on. So keep your eyes out for more updates and fun pictures because summer is just starting and we have lots and lots planned. Kailey just started taking Karate and I am going to try and get some pictures up of her doing that and she is starting dance lessons and swimming lessons and everything else. Plus we have a huge camping trip planned to Henry's Lake in May. An entire week,dont know if I can handle it!!! Anyways, keep your eyes out!!!

♥ How long did it take to get serious? Not very long. We started dating in January, were engaged St Patricks day and married the end of June, yea it was a shotgun, but well planned wedding lol.

Easter 2009

Easter was so much fun this year, we finally had the entire family together, for once and the kids had an amazing time and thats all that really mattered to us was that we were together.

So basically that was our easter, we had an amazing time and the kids were all happy. Lol even though Kailey told us later that she didnt believe in the easter bunny cause she was smart enough to figure it out. Oh boy we def have our hands full this year!!

FINALLY SPRING

Its finally spring around here so I thought I would put up some pictures we took of Kailey when we had her during spring break. She is getting so big, its hard to believe she will be 6 this year. she is doing amazing in Kindergarten and can not wait for summer to get here and go on her big trip down to San diego to see her Nanny.

Baby dog got her first haircut for the summer, she wasnt happy but she looks so cute. And I finally figured out how to get the pictures to post so you can see the whole thing. You would think with as much as I know about computers it wouldnt have taken me over a year, oh well!!!

LIFE SINCE LAST UPDATE

Well it has been a long time since we have posted anything, let me just give you a rundown on everything that has happened, there are way way way tooooo many pics to upload to show you all that has been going on so if you want them send me a request at jleighw@hotmail.com. WE did halloween, kailey was Hannah Montana and she loved it and boy was she worn out, but she came out with way too much candy, she didnt mind though. Thanksgiving was good. I had surgery on December 9th for my stomach paresis, I had 80% of my stomach removed and I recovered very fast and I am back to normal. We are all going to the gym everyday and working out. Joey is still in the national guard and we are just waiting to get the word on Afghanistan. SCARY!!!!! I just got an amazing job offer, I will be working with a pr company that works with all the top booksellers and celebrities that are doing things and need promotion. I talk to the client and cooridnate their schedule and with radio stations all over the nation to get them on air and out there as much as possible~ I never thought I would come across a job like this and I am more than excited. Joey is a senior account advisor for Capital one and he is enjoying his job. Things are going really well for us and we count our blessings everyday!!!! I will make sure I keep you more up to date!!!!

It's Been forever since I wrote

Ok so we have been so busy it seems like this last month, we went thru 4 birthdays in August and made it out and then Kailey started kindergarten and she is loving, she has just become little miss independent!!! Its funny she already has 2 boyfriends and Joey is not happy about it all. Its so hard for him watching his little girl grow up. Joey has just been working, been super busy. Can't believe September is almost up and that my nephew Kayde is going to be 9 soon, agh that freaks me out, god I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday, shit I have got old! Well we are planning on making a trip up to Henry's Lake, one last big fishing trip before all the warm weather goes away cause winter is coming early this year!! BRRRRRRR. I am now a chairman with the Family readindess Group with the national guard and have been busy with that organizing events and doing things to make everything better for the soldiers and their families, we are getting ready to go out to businesses and see if we can get some things set up for them, I am really excited, yes we are expecting a deployment, they just wont say when, cause they aren't 100% sure, I am just hoping even with this pathetic attempt at run for president, either way we go we are in trouble even though I have to say I am leaning more towards john Mccain, yea there are so many things that he doesnt believe in that I dont agree with, one of the biggest things for me is I want a president who will legalize same sex marriage and give them the same rights to everyone else who is married. Its common day discrimination, I know alot of people agree wtih me, I just want whats right for others and of course there is always the abortion topic and I believe in some cases it is the only answer, but I dont think it is the answer to all those girls that go out there screw around get pregnant and use abortion as their birth control, but thats a whole nother rant I could go on for hours and hours!!!! e are looking forward to a weekend with My mother in law and my brother in law Jon in November, I am nervous to meet my mother in law for the first time!!! Ugh scary!!!! Its always nerve wrecking, anyways, life is just going on same as usual, neices and nephews getting better, kaileys baby sister is getting bigger and she is so cute!!!!! Well I will write more later and we are going to try and get some new pics up! Hope all is well for you!

Brooklynn's 1st Birthday

This Sunday, we went to Brooklynn's 1st Birthday, it seems just like yesterday we were at the hospital and she was being born, she is so adorable right now!!!! It was alot of fun, I love spending any time with my neices and nephews
